A cyber-physical approach to data center control as smart grid nodes, explicitly modelling computational and thermal dynamics to maximise financial returns from demand-response participation.
Abstract
This paper discusses the challenges and the possibilities offered by controlling a data center as a node of the smart grid. The work employs a cyber-physical methodology that explicitly models the computational and physical characteristics of data centers alongside their interactions with the power grid. Results indicate the approach generates enhanced financial returns compared to methods neglecting cyber-physical system interdependencies.
